Event Description
This basic-level webinar is designed to help clinical and veterinary laboratory professionals understand how to report select agent and toxin identifications and recognize and report exposure incidents. This webinar will also address biosafety and other considerations when identifying bacterial select agents and toxins using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS).
Event Objectives
After completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify educational and other resources available through the OneLab Network
- Recognize a release or exposure incident while handling a select agent or toxin
- Demonstrate how to report a select agent or toxin release or occupational exposure incident
- Identify biosafety practices to minimize the release or exposure to select agents or toxins while using the MALDI-TOF instrument
